kcatmull:

So I did the current Art Assignment project, to make a gif of what is intimate and indispensable to you. For me that’s my breath.
A long time ago I spent a week in the hospital with intractable asthma, just only barely able to breathe that whole time, and that experience changed my relationship to my breath, for both good and ill. I’m much more aware of breathing’s indispensability, and fearful of losing it; but I’m also much more conscious of its pleasures.
I think I’m always in a conversation with my breath. We rile each other up and calm each other down all day, all night.
